Job Description

Job summary

In view of continuously improving and increasing her focus of a patient-centered strategic information, EGPAF Cameroon is creating an EMR to improve patient management through the provision of accurate and timely data. EGPAF DRC is expanding its point of care system nationally.  This role works closely with the global EMR development team, and other SI and program staff to help promote the vision of and objectives of EGPAF Cameroon.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Support the enhancement of EMR in developing new modules and optimization of the system both in Cameroon and DRC
  2. Enhance existing EMR by analyzing program requirements, preparing an action plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement
  3. Utilize established development tools guidelines and conventions to design, develop, and test the EMR
  4. Will be expected to support the EGPAF Enterprise architecture for EMR as it expands nationally both in Cameroon and DRC.
  5. Maintain existing EMR by identifying and correcting software defects
  6. Engaging users and the program technical team in order to prioritize system feature requests
  7. Provide insight regarding usability and user experience to guide the development and impact of the EMR
  8. Learn and develop skills to keep abreast with new technologies
  9. Leverage knowledge and contribute to proper knowledge management within the program
  10. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  11. Support the development of other software applications as requested
  12. Any other duties that may be reasonably assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and key Competencies:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health information systems and Health informatics, or a bachelor's degree in related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in software development.
  • Good understanding of and development experience of EMR systems and eHealth
  • Knowledge of programing on the OpenMRS
  • Experience with Free and Open-Source technology stack is strongly preferred especially extensive hands-on experience in OpenMRS.
  • Proven practical knowledge of the following programing languages and tools:
    • Ruby on Rails
    • jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap
    • SQL (MS SQL, Postgres SQL) and NoSQL database development, scripting, and optimization
    • Familiar with the DHIS2 suit, and other data collection tools like ODK, Kobo.
    • Web server management and optimization
    • Understanding of Health Information Exchange standards such as HL7 FHIR
       

Other Required Skills and abilities

  • Working knowledge of PEPFAR programs and health systems in Cameroon is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines while producing quality content.
  • Familiar with the Cameroon health information management system.
  • Comfortable working long hours if needed
  • Ability to translate user requirements into functional specifications
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, presentation, written communication and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills to meet EGPAF’s need.
  • Experience in working effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
  • Able to create, motivate and hold accountable a high performing team
  • Highly organized, meticulous, and reliable
  • Result-driven and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and orally in English will be an asset.
  • Statistical analysis skills and experience will be an asset.
